Hello, My name is Kimberly I am the owner and operator of In 1999, Barkley’s Place began as a loving and personalized alternative to the standard boarding facility. As a pet owner, I felt the concerns of owners who faced the decision of either taking a vacation or staying home with their pets. My own dogs—Sydney and Bruno, are like my children. In addition to the duties of attending to Barkley’s guests, I also am employed by the Town of Newton as their animal control officer. Over the years, I have been very fortunate to be given the opportunity to attend seminars at the University of New Hampshire in topics that included wild life management, animal handling, animal cruelty investigation, and pet CPR. Here in our little country town, we believe in teaching our children about responsible pet ownership. It was with great pride and much joy when my Shepherd and I were invited as guest speakers at the Gale Library of Newton, NH. Our visit was in response to their reading program for children that featured much-loved animals. It was thrilling to see the excitement and delight in the children’s faces when our own “Sydney Cranberry” demonstrated her impeccable canine manners. Here in our little corner of the world we appreciate responsible pet ownership, licensing, and vaccinations. During my stead as the Newton animal control officer, I have had many strange and unusual calls. I have had run-ins with love-sick porcupines, wayward horses, vanishing peacocks, daring swine, and wild rooster chases. There is never a dull moment! Although, I feel blessed to be able to help all furry creatures, it is Barkley’s Place kennel that holds my heart. Named after the sweetest Chesapeake Bay retriever that ever lived, Barkley's Place,
and it is dedicated to his memory. |
